Protection spells

Greetings, dear seeker of the mystical arts. I am Amira Asmodea, here to share with you some gentle yet powerful ways to guard your energy and home from those unseen forces that sometimes tiptoe too close for comfort. Protection spells, as I've come to understand in my years walking the witch's path, are as diverse as the cultures and hearts that craft them. What worries one kind of witch in one place might be quite different for another, but the common thread is a desire to create sacred space—a shield that nurtures our well-being and peace.

Protection spells are magical practices from many cultures and traditions, each shaped by what people there feel is most dangerous in the spiritual realm. Some fight the jealousy and harm thought to come from the evil eye — that gaze of envy believed to cause misfortune. Others face magical curses such as dust or powders cast on the ground to trap and diminish a person’s energy. In every tradition, protection spells form a kind of armor, tuned to reassure and defend against the threats one fears most.

When you think of protection, it helps to imagine a soft yet unyielding light wrapping around you, a bubble or cloak that gently repels distress or dark energies. In my experience, incantations and spells for protection work by strengthening our own natural energy and intention, creating this shield from within and around us. And when cast with respect and clear purpose, they do no harm — only safeguard.

Protection Spell Protection spells

Let’s look at some gentle, straightforward spells you can try — whether around the house, when stepping outside, or whenever you feel the need to call in that magical good will and safety.

Spell for protection at all times

This is a simple, all-around spell to help guard you against negativity and those who might wish to do you harm. It’s a humble practice but tends to feel both calming and strong once complete. For this, you’ll want:

  • A wand — or a stick you regard as your magical tool.
  • Blue or silver glitter — if you don’t have glitter, flower petals or salt can be a lovely substitute.
  • A quiet spot, ideally outdoors where the wind can carry away what you release.

Spells for protection against enemies

Your wand is your magical conductor here. Traditionally, blue, white, or silver are colours that hold protective qualities, but if your wand doesn’t fit this description, tying a ribbon around it is a beautiful way to bless it for this ritual.

  1. Head outdoors if you can; the open air helps spread and strengthen your spell.
  2. Mark a circle around you on the ground. This could be drawn with your finger, a stick, or even visualized if you prefer. This circle is your sacred space.
  3. Walk around this circle, starting from the West, then moving North, East, and South. Touch the ground lightly with your wand as you call out:

Protection spells"I call you, you who guard the watchtowers of the (West),
guide me through the darkness, and ensure my safety."

Repeat these words four times, once facing each direction, invoking the protection of the watchtowers of the world, those ancient guardians I often think of as holding the tides of night and unseen forces at bay.

Then return to the centre of your circle, take a steady, calm breath, and say:

In the shadows, the ills are hidden,
Ready to draw me into the darkness,
But with your help, I will be strong
And banish all that makes me stumble.
Send them, who I fear harm from, astray
Never again will they cross my path, so seal my fate.
So.

As you speak the last few lines, gently sprinkle the glitter around you, imagining it as a sparkling barrier that catches and deflects anything negative.

When you feel the spell complete, close your sacred circle by retracing your steps back to your starting point, then enjoy a small bite or sip of water to ground your energy. Protection magic isn’t just about keeping harm away — it’s also about nurturing your own strength.

Lunar protection spell

The moon has long been seen as a kind and steady guardian through the night, a gentle light to lead us safely through darker hours. Especially if you venture out after sunset, or face challenges while night reigns, this spell offers quiet comfort.

Choose a talisman dear to you — your wand, a pendant, or maybe a ring — and with your finger or this object, draw a glowing pentagram (that’s a five-pointed star) in the air. Picture it shimmering with silver light, firm and protective, trapping any harm until your situation resolves.

Recite softly:

"Moon sacred and eternal,
The night you are the Queen;
Protect me from all evil,
Until the light returns to shine."

This blessing invites the moon’s enduring calm and watchful eye to stand sentinel over you until morning beckons.

Protection magic, in all its forms, is about declaring your intent to stay safe, to honor your boundaries, and to walk forward with grace and courage. It’s a reminder that even unseen energies can be navigated with care, wisdom, and a touch of ritual.

Dear reader, I encourage you to explore these practices with an open heart. Protection spells are not about fear, but empowerment — shaping the space around you so your light can shine clear and bright. Keep exploring this blog for more spells steeped in love, abundance, and everyday magic, and remember: kindness is the quietest, strongest magic of all.

May your path be safe and your spirit ever protected.
