Spell to forget a love

Hello, dear soul. I’m Amira Asmodea, here to walk with you through the delicate journey of turning the page on love that no longer serves your heart. Almost everyone knows what it feels like when someone you love rejects you—it hurts deeply, often leaving behind a tangled web of memories and feelings. Sometimes, the only way forward is to gently release those emotions, allowing space for healing and new beginnings.

This spell to forget a love is a thoughtful practice I’ve included in my grimoire of love spells. It is designed to help you let go of a painful or impossible love, or simply move on from a bad relationship. With compassion and intention, this ritual supports your heart in releasing old ties without losing the lessons or the good moments you shared.

Spell to forget a love

Spell to forget a love All things sooner or later come to an end, and some chapters are meant to close so that new ones can be written. This ritual calls on the ancient wisdom of transformation to help you carefully release what no longer serves you. The goal here is not to erase memories but to soften their grip, turning old pains into ashes from which you can rise anew.

In my experience and that of many practitioners, working with the lunar cycle enhances this kind of spell. A waning moon or new moon night provides the perfect quiet darkness for releasing and letting go. When the night is calm and your surroundings peaceful, gather these items:
  • A photo or small memento of the person you wish to release
  • A lighter or matches for symbolic burning
  • A piece of bittersweet root, known traditionally for its power to absorb sorrow and transform grief
  • A red fabric bag, to hold your intentions and symbolic release
Begin by holding the photo gently in your hands. Close your eyes, and take a moment to connect with the feelings you carry—the hurt, the loss, the lingering attachment. It’s important to honor these emotions; they deserve your respect before you let them go.
Place the photo in the container you have chosen for burning. Light it carefully, watching the image curl and burn, turning to ash beneath your fingertips. As the photo becomes ash, sit quietly and meditate on your pain transforming, releasing its hold on you. In my own practice, I find it helpful to really feel the emotions as they dissolve into smoke, imagining them lifting off into the night sky.
When the image is fully reduced to ash, say these words aloud, allowing conviction to fill each phrase:

"I leave my pain,
While sails of my life.
I leave the past behind
And you become ashes."

Repeat this intention as many times as feels necessary until the photo is completely burned. Handle the ashes with care, and once you’re ready, travel as far from your living space as possible to either scatter them to the wind or bury them deeply in a place that feels like a respectful farewell to your past. This act symbolizes letting go and releasing old emotional burdens where they can no longer bind you.

Once the ashes are laid to rest, take the bittersweet root and gently place it on your forehead, right between the eyebrows—where many call the "third eye". This spot connects us to inner wisdom and intuition, and by placing the root there, you invite it to absorb residual pain and negative energy. If tears well up at this moment, welcome them—they are a sacred part of cleansing and releasing. Wrap the root carefully in the red fabric, tying three knots firmly but tenderly. This pouch carries your intention to hold the past at a respectful distance.
Slide this pouch beneath your pillow or under the mattress near your head. Let it accompany your sleep as a quiet, watchful guardian, softening memories and easing emotional residue. Each night, the bittersweet root continues its work, and gradually, you will find peace where there was once pain.

Some dear readers often ask me:
  • "What if I don't have a photo?" — A personal item or something symbolic of your love works just as well. It might be a note, a piece of jewelry, or anything that holds energy from the relationship.
  • "Is it okay to feel sad during the spell?" — Absolutely. Emotions are part of the process. Give yourself permission to feel and release at your own pace.
  • "How many times should I repeat this ritual?" — Once can bring strong results, but you may repeat it over a few nights until you truly feel ready to let go.
Remember, this spell is a tool—a companion on your healing path. It works best combined with kindness toward yourself, gentle self-care, and time. The magic that truly heals comes from within, sparked by your intention and willingness to move forward.
